# Fix: Phone Number Status Showing FLAGGED

Has your phone number status changed to **“FLAGGED”**?

Let’s look at why this happens and what you can do about it.

### Why does your phone number get flagged?

Your phone number status changes to “**FLAGGED**” when its **quality rating drops to Low**, causing it to be flagged by WhatsApp.

This can occur if recipients frequently **block or report your messages** as spam, or if your messaging activity results in **poor engagement**.

### How to restore your phone number status

If your phone number is flagged, you can request a review from WhatsApp to have the status evaluated and and possibly restored sooner. Reviews typically take **24 hours**.

If you do not request a review, but your message quality improves to **High** or **Medium** rating and remains at that level for **7 consecutive days**, the status will automatically return to **CONNECTED**.

Note that if your message quality rating does not improve within 7 days, the status will still return to **CONNECTED**, but the messaging limit may be downgraded to the next tier.

For example, if your messaging limit is **100,000 messages per 24 hours**, it will be downgraded to **10,000 messages**.
