# How to Add Payment Method for WhatsApp API Billing?

The WhatsApp Business API is a paid service, and Meta charges a [small per-message fee](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/whatsapp/pricing/) for the messages sent through it. To pay for API usage, you need to **add your payment method** in the Meta Business portal. 

Follow the instructions below to add your payment method.

1. Open the [Meta Business Settings](https://business.facebook.com/settings/) page.
2. If it asks you to select your **Business** account, select the one that you used to set up the WhatsApp Business API.
3. From the left sidebar, go to **Accounts > WhatsApp Accounts**, and select your WhatsApp account from the list.
4. Click on the **Settings** tab, then click the **Payment Settings** button.
5. On the Payment Settings page, perform the following two actions:
* In the **Payment methods** section, click on the **Add payment method** button and add your payment method.
* In the **Business info** section, click on the **Edit** button and enter your legal business details.

You’ll see a screen like the one below after your payment method is added successfully:

**Important Notes:** 
* Adding details in both the **Payment method** and **Business info** is required
* If you're an Indian business, it's **mandatory to add your GST number** in the Business info section. If you don't add it, you won't be able to use the WhatsApp API.
