Create Click-to-WhatsApp Ads (CTWA)

In this article, we’ll show you how to create a Click-to-WhatsApp ad (CTWA) using Meta Ads Manager.

Before you begin, make sure you’ve created your WANotifier account and set up your phone number with the WhatsApp Business API. If you haven’t done that yet, follow the guide below:

>> Create a WANotifier account & set up your phone number with the WhatsApp API

Once that’s in place, you can follow the steps below to create your ad.

How to Create a Click-to-WhatsApp Ad

Creating a CTWA ad is similar to creating any other ad in the Meta Ads Manager. We won’t go deep into the basics of setting up Meta ads here and will only focus on how to set up a CTWA ad.

Let’s get started…

  1. Go to your Meta Ads Manager and click the + Create button.

  1. Next, choose a campaign objective. For this tutorial, we’ll use the Leads objective to publish our ad (learn more about campaign objectives here). Then, click Continue to proceed.
  2. You’ll be taken to the Campaign screen. Complete your campaign setup here.
  3. Once you’re done, click on the Ad Set option in the left sidebar, and scroll to the Conversions section.
  4. Under Conversions, select “WhatsApp” as your preferred conversion location.

  1. Then, scroll down to the Facebook Page section and select your page. Then, either choose one of your existing phone numbers from the dropdown, or click Connect another number to add a new number.

  1. After that, set up the remaining ad set options as needed.
  2. Next, click on your Ad from the sidebar and scroll down to the Message template section. Here, select the Create new option to create a new template or the Use existing option to edit or duplicate an existing template. If you select Create new, click Edit to customize the default template. As a best practice, include a greeting and suggest a few questions that users can send.

  1. When you're done editing the message template, click on the Save button.
  2. Finally, complete the remaining ad setup, and when you’re ready, hit the Publish button.

That’s it! You’ve just created your first Click-to-WhatsApp ad.

Next, we’ll show you how to segment leads from this Click-to-WhatsApp ad.
