Fix Error: [131047] Re-engagement message
Are you seeing this error when trying to send a message?
“[131047] Re-engagement message.”
Let’s look at why this happens and what you can do to resolve it.
Why do you get this error?
This error usually occurs when more than 24 hours have passed since the recipient last interacted with your WhatsApp Business number, and you attempted to send a free-form (non-template) message to them.
Note that whenever a WhatsApp user replies to your message or initiates a chat with you, a 24-hour timer called a customer service window gets triggered. During this window, you can send any type of message to the user.
However, once the 24-hour window closes, you can only send pre-approved template messages to the customer. Any attempts to send a free-form message outside this window will result in this error.
How to fix this error
To resume communication with a customer after the 24-hour window has closed, you’ll need to send a pre-approved message template from your Inbox or by creating a Notification.
Keep in mind that you'll be able to send free-form messages only after the user responds to you, which will trigger a fresh customer service window.
In the future, you can avoid this error by refreshing your Inbox occasionally to make sure you're seeing the correct conversation window status. This is how it should look if the conversation window is closed:
By following these steps, you’ll be able to resolve this error and prevent it from happening in future.
