Fix Error: [131048] Spam rate limit hit
Are you seeing this error when trying to send messages?
“[131048] Spam rate limit hit.”
Let’s look at why this happens and what you can do to resolve it.
Why do you get this error?
This error usually occurs when there are restrictions placed on your phone number. This could happen due to two reasons:
- Your number is being blocked by recipients
When a high number of recipients block or report your messages as spam, your phone number’s quality rating can drop, leading to this error.
- Your messaging activity exceeds the allowed limit for your account
All Meta Business Accounts start with a messaging limit of 250 messages per day. This limit can be increased to 1,000 messages by verifying your business with WhatsApp and getting your display name approved.
After reaching the 1,000-message limit, WhatsApp can automatically increase your limit to 10,000, 100,000, and eventually unlimited, depending on your message quality and engagement rates.
However, if you try to send more messages than your current limit, you may trigger this error.
