Fix Error: Phone number registration failed

During the onboarding process of your phone number, you might encounter the following error:

Why this error comes?

This error comes when you try to connect a phone number that is already setup with some other tool provider, and two-step verification is still enabled in it.

How to fix this?

Disable two-step verification

This issue can be fixed by disabling two-step verification on your phone number that you're trying to setup. You can do that by following the instructions in the article below:

Two-step verification is disabled, but still getting this error?

If you see that two-step verification is disabled for your phone number, it could mean that the same number is present in some other WhatsApp Business account (WABA) within your Meta Business account or in a different Meta Business account.

Please check thoroughly if the number is present in multiple places. If you find the number in multiple places:

1. Delete all the numbers with Pending status as they've not been connected yet
2. Disable two-step verification in the number that shows as Connected

Then come back to our onboarding page and try setting up number freshly.
