Track Conversions from Click-to-WhatsApp Ads
In this article, you'll learn how to set up conversion tracking for your Click-to-WhatsApp Ads (CTWAs). Note that WANotifier uses the Conversion API (CAPI) to record your conversion events, and you can track them directly in your Meta Ads Manager.
Let’s look at how to set up conversion tracking in your WANotifier account:
How to Activate Conversion Tracking?
To get started, locate your phone number in the left sidebar menu and click the arrow next to it to open the dropdown. Then, click the Settings icon next to your phone number.
Once you’re on the Settings page, click the Click to WhatsApp Ads tab in the top menu, and then select the Conversion Tracking tab:
To begin, click on the Connect button. Clicking on the button will automatically add a new Dataset in your Meta Business Account.
Once successfully connected, the Dataset ID will appear at the top, along with a Disconnect button.
How to Setup Conversion Events for Tracking?
You can set up conversion events in two ways:
- Account-level conversion events: Can be configured in the Conversion Tracking tab
- Bot-level conversion events: Can be configured directly inside your bot flows
Let’s take a closer look at both approaches:
1) Setup account level conversion events
You can set up account level conversion events for Leads, Purchases, or both, depending on your business needs in the Conversion Tracking tab.
To track lead conversions, enable the Lead event toggle. This will allow you to track a Lead conversion event when the set trigger conditions are met for contacts coming from your CTWAs.
You can choose one of the following triggers:
- When a new tag is added to a contact:This will trigger the conversion event when one (or all) of the selected tags are added to a contact
- When a template is sent to a contact: This will trigger the conversion event when one (or all) of the selected templates are sent to a contact
If you want to track Purchase conversion events, enable the Purchase event toggle. This will help you record a Purchase conversion event when the set trigger condition is met for a contact.
Again, you’ll need to choose one of the following triggers:
- When a new tag is added to a contact:This will trigger the conversion event when one (or all) of the selected tags are added to a contact
- When a template is sent to a contact: This will trigger the conversion event when one (or all) of the selected templates are sent to a contact
- You can also define a Purchase currency and Purchase value from the dropdowns below.
Once you’ve finished configuring your conversion events and triggers, click Save changes to apply them.
Your CTWA conversions will now be tracked automatically in Meta based on the conditions you’ve set.
2) Trigger conversion events from Bots
In addition to account-level events, you can also set up conversion events directly within your bot flows.
To do this, open your existing chatbot (or create a new one) in the Bot Builder, and add a Trigger conversion event action node.
Then, select a conversion event type: Lead or Purchase. If you choose Purchase, you’ll also need to set the Purchase Currency and Purchase Value.
Once you’ve configured the node, click Save changes.
From now on, whenever this node runs during a conversation, the conversion event will be fired for the contact interacting with the bot.
This completes your conversion tracking setup for Click-to-WhatsApp Ads in WANotifier.
