Track Message Template Performance
The Message Template Analytics page helps you track the performance of an individual message template over a specified time period. You can use it to track key metrics, like the number of messages sent using the template, how many were delivered and opened, and the number of button clicks by button type and text.
To open this page, click on Analytics & Reports in the left sidebar menu and select Message Template from the dropdown.
This is what you will see when you open the page (your view will be based on the available data in your account):
Let’s look at this page in greater detail:
Select a Template
At the top of the page, you’ll see the SELECT A TEMPLATE dropdown in the Message Template Analytics section. You can use this to choose the message template you want to view analytics for.
Select Date Range
Right below the template selector, you’ll find the SELECT DATE RANGE field. Use this to define the period (or date range) for which you want to view the template’s performance data.
By default, the date range is set from the 1st of the current month to the current date you are viewing the analytics.
Quick Overview
Located below the Message Template Analytics, this panel provides a visual breakdown of a message template’s performance over the selected period. It includes a line chart with four key metrics (again, your view may differ depending on the available data):
- Sent: This is the total number of messages that were sent using this template.
- Delivered: This is the number of messages using the template that were successfully delivered.
- Read: This is the number of times recipients read the template.
- Button Clicks: This is the number of times a button was clicked in the message template.
You can use this chart to assess how a message template is performing at each stage, from sending to delivery to engagement.
Button Clicks
To the right of the Quick Overview panel, you’ll see the Button Clicks section. It shows you which buttons in your message template were clicked, how often, and what type of button they were.
For each button, you’ll see:
- Button Text: The text label displayed on the button.
- Type: The type of button (Quick Reply or Call-to-Action)
- Clicks: The number of times a button was clicked.
You’ll also see a bar chart displaying button click activity across the selected period.
Note that if your message template includes more than one button, each button will be listed separately so you can compare their performance.
Now that you know how to track a message template’s performance, let’s look at how to manage and export WhatsApp Flow responses.
