Update WhatsApp Profile Details
The Edit Profile tab allows you to update details that your contacts will see when they view your profile on WhatsApp.
You can use it to add your profile picture, a short business description, website links, contact details, and more to help customers understand who you are and how to reach you.
To get to this page, locate your phone number in the left sidebar menu and click on the Settings icon next to it.
Once you’re in the Settings, click the Edit Profile option in the top menu. This will open a page that looks like this:

WhatsApp Business Profile
This section covers the first half of the page and includes key information that your contacts will see when they view your WhatsApp Business profile.
Here’s a breakdown of each field and how to fill it out:
WhatsApp Profile Picture
This is where you upload an image to represent your business on WhatsApp.
To upload or change your profile picture:
- Click the Choose File button to upload a new image.
- If there’s already a picture and you want to replace it, click the Remove button first, then click Choose File to upload a new image.
- For best results, use a square image that is 640px by 640px or higher resolution.
We recommend using your business logo or any image that helps customers recognize your brand easily.
Description
You can use this field to add a summary of what your business does. This text will appear on your WhatsApp profile when someone views your contact.
To update the description:
- Click inside the Description field.
- Then, type a short overview of your business or services. Note that you can enter up to 512 characters here.
Example: We offer online courses and live coaching sessions to help students and professionals upskill in areas like communication and career development.
About
You can use this field to add a short status message indicating your availability or working hours.
To update the About section:
- Click inside the About field.
- Then, type your message. Note that you can only enter up to 140 characters here.
Example: We are online and ready to help!
Address
You can use this field to add your business’s physical address.
To add or update your address:
- Click inside the Address field.
- Then, enter your full business address, including street name, city, and postal code.
Category
You can use this field to select the category that best describes your business. This helps customers quickly understand what type of service or product you offer.
To update the category:
- Click on the Category dropdown
- Then, select an option that closely matches your business
You can use this field to add an email address where customers can contact you outside of WhatsApp.
To add or update your email:
- Click inside the Email field.
- Then, enter a valid email address that you or your team regularly checks.
Note that this field is optional, but filling it in can make your business seem more approachable.
Website URLs
You can use these fields to add links to your website or other useful pages.
To add or update your website links:
- Click inside the Website URL 1 field and enter your main website link.
- If you want to add another link, use the Website URL 2 field.
Business Compliance Information
You can use it to add legal and compliance-related details about your business, such as your registered business name, business type (like Sole Proprietorship or Private Company), grievance officer details, and customer care information.
To access this section, turn on the Add business compliance info? toggle at the top of the section.
Let’s show you how to fill out this section:
Legal Name of Business
To get started, enter your officially registered business name. To do this:
- Click inside the Legal Name of Business field.
- Then, type the name exactly as it appears on your business registration documents.
Business Type
Next, select the type of business entity you’re registered as.
- Click the Business Type dropdown.
- Next, choose the option that best describes your business structure, such as Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Private Company, etc.
Grievance Officer Details
In this part of the form, you can provide the contact details of your designated grievance officer.
To fill out this section:
- Name: Enter the name of your grievance officer.
- Email: Next, enter a valid email address where the officer can be reached.
- Landline Phone Number: Next, enter the grievance officer’s landline number with the country code.
- Mobile Phone Number: Finally, enter the grievance officer’s mobile number with the country code.
Customer Care Information
You can use this section to provide contact details for your customer support team. These details will be visible on your WhatsApp Business profile and help customers reach out for support.
To fill out this section:
- Email: Enter the email address your support team uses to respond to customer queries.
- Landline Phone Number: Then, enter your support team's (or staff’s) landline number with the country code.
- Mobile Phone Number: Finally, enter your support team's (or staff’s) mobile number with the country code.
