How to Create your WANotifier Account and Setup API?

In this article we’re going to show you how to create your account on WANotifier, setup your phone number with WhatsApp Cloud API and integrate that with WANotifier.

By following the instructions till the end of this article you’ll have your account ready to start sending WhatsApp notifications.

Must-have Requirements



Following are 4 must-have requirements by WhatsApp to setup WhatsApp Cloud API. Please make sure you have all of the following before proceeding.

Phone Number – this is the number you’ll be using to setup the APIs and this will be shown to the receivers of your WhatsApp messages.
Note that if you’re already using a phone number on the WhatsApp mobile app, you won’t be able to use that number with the API. Either you’ll have to disconnect the number from your phone app if you want to use it or get a new phone number for integration with WhatsApp Cloud API.
WhatsApp does not allow using same phone number for both WhatsApp phone app and WhatsApp Cloud API.
Registered Business – you must have a registered business and have some kind of government issued business registration proof like incorporation document.
For Indian businesses, having a GST certificate is mandatory.
If you do not have legal business documents, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp Cloud APIs.
Website – you must also have a website. WhatsApp requires you to have a live website for your business with a privacy policy page for your users. You can not use any 3rd party websites owned by other people or business. The website must be owned by you and should be of your business.
Payment method – like a credit or debit card. This will be added to the WhatsApp Manager portal for API billing.

Once you have all of these in place, you’re ready to get started with the setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions to Create & Setup your WANotifier Account



Follow the instructions below to create your WANotifier account and setup WhatsApp Cloud API. Let’s get started.

Step 1. Create Free Account on WANotifier



Click here to open WANotifier signup page.
On this page fill in all the requested details. In the Phone Number field, you can put any phone number (this will only be used for registration process and not for API) with country code. Enter your business website URL with http:// or https://. Note that if you do not have a website for your business, you won't be able to use the APIs.



After filling all details click on the Sign up button.
On the next page, it'll ask to do email verification. Go to your email Inbox and click on the verification link.



After verification, you'll land on the Disclaimer page. Please read all disclaimer points and then click on I Understand & Accept button.



With this you've successfully created your WANotifier account. The next step is to add your phone number to the WhatsApp APIs.

Step 2. Connect Your Phone Number With WhatsApp APIs



After creating your account and accepting disclaimer, you'll be redirected to the next page to add your phone number. This step will take around 15 to 20 min, depending on your pace. This is a one-time setup. Once complete, you'll not have to worry about it again.

On this page you have 2 options - either to complete the setup using Embedded Signup Flow (easier and recommended) or through your own custom WhatsApp API credentials (for advanced users).

You need to choose one of the two options for setting up your phone number:



Option 1 - Setup using Embedded Signup Flow


Using this option the phone number gets setup through WANotifier. This is recommended if you want a simple way to setup your phone number and do not want to manage the APIs yourself.

To setup using this method, follow the steps on screen instructions and click on Connect with Facebook to get started.

Option 2 - Setup using Custom API Credentials


This is more advanced users who want to generate and use their own Phone Number ID, WhatsApp Business Account ID and Permanent Access Token directly by setting up their own app on the Meta Developers portal. This option is great if you already have these details generated earlier or if you want to use the APIs to send messages from outside of WANotifier, like for integration with your own website / app.

If you'd like to setup using your own custom API credentials, scroll down on the page and click on Connect using API credentials button at the bottom. That'll take you to a new page:



Follow the on screen instructions to add your phone number on WhatsApp portal and generate your API credentials. We've also created an article to walk you through the setup steps that you can checkout here:

Step 3. Create your First Notification



Once you've added your phone number, you'll be redirected to your WANotifeir Dashboard. From there you can follow the following steps to send your first notification:

Create a message template - Create your first message template and submit it for approval to WhatsApp.
Add / import your contacts - Add a contact manually, bulk import contacts using CSV import or using API integration.
Send your first notification - Create a notification with type Marketing, select a Contact List and send the notification to your contacts in that list.

Now that your setup is complete, you can start sending upto 250 messages per day. You can increase this limit to 1,000 messages per day and higher by verifying your business. Click here to read instructions on how to do that.
