How to Integrate WANotifier with 2000+ Apps using Pabbly?

Pabbly Connect lets you connect your WANotifier account to 2,000+ apps including Google Sheets, HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify, Calendly, Typeform, Mailchimp, Notion, Airtable, and many more without writing any code. Build a "Workflow" once and Pabbly Connect will automatically send data between your apps and WANotifier.

This guide walks you through connecting your WANotifier account to Pabbly Connect and sending your first WhatsApp notification or adding a new contact triggered by another app.

Step 1. Connect WANotifier to Pabbly Connect

  1. Go to connect.pabbly.com and sign in to your Pabbly Connect account (or click Connect on the Pabbly Connect card under Integrations → Connectors in WANotifier).
  2. Click Create Workflow and then click on Create from Scratch to start a new workflow.
  3. Enter a name for your workflow and then click on Create.

  1. Click on the "+" button to choose your trigger app that'll be used to trigger the workflow. This can be any external app like Google Sheets, Hubspot etc or webhook.
  2. Next, click on the "+" next to this trigger node to add an action node. In the panel that opens, search for and select WANotifier.

  1. Then select an App Event that you want to execute from the dropdown. We've covered how to setup app app events in the next section.

  1. Click Connect to add your WANotifier account. Select "Add New Connection", add a connection name and paste your API **Key**.
  • To find it: in WANotifier, go to Integrations → API Integration → API Keys and copy your default key (or click Add New Key to create a dedicated key for Pabbly Connect).

  1. Click on the Save button and Pabbly Connect will verify the key and confirm the connection.

Step 2. Setup an Action of Your Choice

WANotifier exposes five actions in Pabbly Connect. Pick whichever fits your use case.

  1. Add / Update a Contact - Create or update contacts.
  2. Send Message Template (Via a Notification) - Send a message template using a pre-configured transactional notification.
  3. Send Text Message - Send a free-form text message during an active 24-hour conversation window.
  4. Send Media Message - Send an image, video, audio file, document, or sticker during an active 24-hour conversation window.
  5. Send Location Message - Send a location pin during an active 24-hour conversation window.

We've described how to set up each of these actions below.

1. Add / Update a Contact

This action lets you sync contacts from another app into WANotifier. If a contact with the same WhatsApp number already exists, it's updated; otherwise a new contact is created. You can optionally add the contact to lists, tags, or set custom attributes.

How to set it up:

  1. Select action as Add / Update a Contact and select a connection.
  2. Fill in the fields:
  • WhatsApp Number (required): used as the unique identifier; include country code, e.g. +919876543210.
  • First Name (optional).
  • Last Name (optional).
  • Status (optional): Subscribed (broadcast notifications go to this contact) or Unsubscribed (skipped during broadcasts). Defaults to Subscribed.
  • Lists (optional): pick one or more lists from the dropdown (auto-fetched from your WANotifier account).
  • Tags (optional): pick one or more tags from the dropdown (auto-fetched from your WANotifier account).
  • Replace (optional): when enabled, existing lists and tags on the contact are replaced with the values you've selected; otherwise the selected lists/tags are merged with existing ones.
  • Attribute fields (optional): every custom attribute you've defined in WANotifier appears as its own field, prefixed with Contact Attribute >. Map values from your trigger as needed.
  1. Click Save & Send Test Request to verify the contact appears under Contacts in WANotifier.
  2. Once everything is ready, save and turn on the workflow.

2. Send Message Template (Via a Notification)

This action lets you send a WhatsApp message template using a Transactional Notification.

How to set it up:

  1. In WANotifier, go to Notifications → Add New and create a Transactional Notification:
  • Give it a name (e.g. "New Order from Shopify").
  • Select type as Transaction / Integration / API.
  • Select trigger as API request to a Webhook URL.
  • Pick the message template you want to send.
  • Keep Webhook Request Data as Default.
  • Save.

This is how it should look:

  1. Back in Pabbly Connect, with the action set to Send Message Template (Via a Notification), fill in:
  • Transactional Notification (required): pick the notification you just created from the dropdown (Pabbly Connect fetches all your transactional notifications automatically).
  • Recipient WhatsApp Number (required): the destination number with country code, e.g. +919876543210.
  • Recipient First Name (optional).
  • Recipient Last Name (optional).
  • Header media URL / Body Variables / Button Variables: these fields appear automatically once you pick the notification, based on the variables defined in your message template. Map each one to data from your trigger.

  1. Click Save & Send Test Request to send a real WhatsApp message using sample data.
  2. Once everything is ready, save and turn on the workflow.

3. Send Text Message

This action lets you reply to an ongoing conversation with a free-form text message. WhatsApp only allows free-form messages while a 24-hour window with the contact is open (started by the contact's last incoming message). Outside that window the messages will not get sent.

How to set it up:

  1. In Pabbly Connect, set the action to Send Text Message.
  2. Fill in the fields:
  • Recipient WhatsApp Number (required): the contact you want to message, with country code.
  • Recipient First Name (optional).
  • Recipient Last Name (optional).
  • Body (required): the text content of the message. Supports basic markdown (bold, italic, ~strikethrough~, ```code```).
  1. Click Save & Send Test Request. If the contact has an open 24-hour window, the message goes through immediately; otherwise WANotifier returns an error.
  2. Once everything is ready, save and turn on the workflow.

4. Send Media Message

This action lets you send an image, video, audio file, document, or sticker during an active 24-hour conversation window.

How to set it up:

  1. In Pabbly Connect, set the action to Send Media Message.
  2. Fill in the fields:
  • Recipient WhatsApp Number (required): the contact, with country code.
  • Recipient First Name (optional), Recipient Last Name (optional).
  • Media Type (required): pick Image, Video, Audio, Document, or Sticker.
  • Media URL (required): a public, static URL to the media file. See Meta's documentation for supported types and size limits.
  • Caption (optional): only used for Image, Video, and Document types — leave blank for Audio/Sticker.
  • Filename (optional): only used for Document type — leave blank for others.
  1. Click Save & Send Test Request.
  2. Once everything is ready, save and turn on the workflow.

5. Send Location Message

This action lets you send a location pin during an active 24-hour conversation window.

How to set it up:

  1. In Pabbly Connect, set the action to Send Location Message.
  2. Fill in the fields:
  • Recipient WhatsApp Number (required): the contact, with country code.
  • Recipient First Name (optional), Recipient Last Name (optional).
  • Latitude (required): e.g. 19.07601242.
  • Longitude (required): e.g. 72.877392747.
  • Place Name (required): name of the location, e.g. Mumbai HQ.
  • Address (required): full address of the location.
  1. Click Save & Send Test Request.
  2. Once everything is ready, save and turn on the workflow.

General Tips

  • Phone numbers must include the country code (e.g. +919876543210). Many apps store numbers without +. Use Pabbly Connect's built-in Number Formatter action to normalize them before passing to WANotifier.
  • Body variables appear in the order they exist in your template, [1], [2], etc. Make sure the data you map matches the variable order.
  • Header media (image, video, document URLs) must be public URLs accessible by WhatsApp's servers. You can not use dynamic links from services like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
  • Lists, Tags, and Attributes for "Add / Update a Contact" are pulled from your WANotifier account automatically. Pick from the dropdowns rather than typing free-text.

That's it! With the WANotifier Pabbly Connect integration in place, you can now connect WhatsApp to virtually any tool in your stack and automate your messaging workflows end to end.
