Train Your WhatsApp AI Agent

The AI Agent answers customers using the information you give it. In this article, you'll learn how to add that information from the Configure tab of the AI Agent page.

To get started, open the AI Agent page and click the Configure tab. You'll see six sections: Business Info, FAQs, Skills, Files, Websites and Connectors.

Tip: Use the test chat on the right side of the page to check the agent's replies after each change.

Business Info

Add the basic details the agent should know about your business:

  • Business description: What you sell, who you serve, and anything the agent should know about how you work
  • Contact email, Hours of operation and Address
  • Accepted payment methods, for example UPI, cards or cash on delivery
  • How to purchase: Where and how customers can place an order
  • Delivery & shipping: Areas covered, timelines and charges
  • Return policy: Return window, conditions and refunds

Click Save Changes when you're done.

FAQs

Add the questions your customers ask most often, with the exact answers you want them to get. This is the easiest way to make sure common questions are answered correctly.

  • Click Add FAQ, enter the question and answer, and click Save.

Skills

Skills tell the agent how to behave in specific situations. For example, "When someone asks about returns, always share the return policy link."

  • Click Add Skill.
  • Enter a Title, when the agent should use the skill, and the instructions it should follow.
  • Click Save.

Meta reviews every skill. If a skill shows as Blocked, it failed Meta's content review. Edit the skill to clear it.

Files

Upload documents the agent can refer to, like price lists, product catalogs, brochures or policy documents.

  • Supported files: PDF, DOC, DOCX, CSV, XLSX, PNG and JPG, up to 100MB each.
  • CSV and XLSX files work only if Meta has enabled spreadsheet extraction for your account.

Websites

Add pages from your website, like product, pricing, shipping or FAQ pages.

  • Click Add Website, enter the URL and click Save.

Meta reads these pages in the background, so it can take some time before the agent uses them.

Connectors (optional)

Connectors let the agent look up live data from your own systems, like order status, shipping updates, stock levels or customer records. This is useful for ecommerce stores that want the agent to answer "Where is my order?"

  • Click Add Connector.
  • Enter the base URL of your API or MCP server and a description of what the connector lets the agent do.
  • Choose how the agent signs in: an API key, OAuth 2.0 client credentials, or mTLS certificates.
  • Click Add connector.

Then add at least one tool to the connector. A tool is one action the agent can take, for example get_order_status with the path /orders/{order_id}. Give each tool a clear description of when the agent should use it. A connector with no tools is never used.

You'll likely need your developer's help to set up Connectors.
